If you have an existing PPT or a PDF presentation, you can easily import it into Colossyan to start making your AI video right away.
📍 Important: PPTx presentations will be imported as editable texts and images, with speaker notes added as scripts. PDF and DOC presentations can only be imported with screenshots for each slide.
Import a PDF or PPT
Step 1
Select " + New draft" from the home screen, then choose "Upload document".
Step 2
Start by uploading a document.
If you upload a PPTx presentation, then you'll be able to edit the texts and images on your slides, and your speaker notes will be added as scripts. Some elements may not get imported perfectly, but you can edit them, or take screenshots of certain slides & upload those as images.
If you upload a PDF or any other format, then each slide will be turned into a screenshot. Each slide will look exactly like it does in your original file, but you won't be able to edit them.
Step 3
Select "Import your document".
If you select "Import your document", then Colossyan will import your existing slides.
If you select "Create draft with document-to-video", then Colossyan will analyze your file's content and generate a video automatically using a pre-designed video template (you get to pick one).
Step 4
Start editing your video.
If you've uploaded a PDF, DOC or TXT file, then each slide will turn into a screenshot (static image), and you won't be able to edit it. This is helpful when you want your designs to stay exactly the same, and just need to add narration.
If you've uploaded a PPT file, then you can edit the texts and images on your slides. If your slides had any speaker notes, then those will be added into the script boxes. Our PPT import is currently in beta, so some images and texts might not get imported correctly. Here are all the PPT Import limitations to look out for:
⚠️ BETA PPT V2 Limitations:
Some scenes, texts, and image placements might need fine-tuning after import. (i.e. Sizes, fonts).
Charts and other special media will appear as screenshots.
If the object is non-rectangular and transparent the screenshot may contain part of the background.
Slides with multiple objects may get those imported as screenshots.
If the objects are overlapping, the screenshots will too, and this could cause unintuitive and strange results.
In case the overlapping objects are part of a group, this issue is detected and handled by taking a single screenshot of the whole group. This causes certain objects that could otherwise be translated (e.g. texts) to be replaced by a screenshot.
Some colors may now show up correctly, in which case we recommend inserting a screenshot instead (where applicable).
Older presentations may have a resolution that messes up the Colossyan Creator.
Non cross-platform images - e.g. WMF (Windows-only) - may be rendered differently. This affects mostly old Powerpoint presentations.
Currently there’s no rich text editing in the Editor, so the texts must be “reduced” before importing to a draft:
Enumeration, tabulations, special characters.
Partially formatted texts (e.g. if one word is italic, that formatting is dropped).
In case of multiple colors, font sizes (or any other property) the workaround is to apply the last paragraph’s properties.
Vertical alignment.
Layouts may contain settings for conditional formatting based on paragraph levels (e.g. headers are formatted with 46px, sub headers are formatted with 40px.
Same applies for speaker notes that have formatting.
Please bear with us as we constantly work on improving our PPT import.
Since this is a beta release, all the feedback and insights we get now will help us improve this feature.
While your PPT import may not always turn out perfect — after a few adjustments, you’ll have an editable, flexible video draft.
And for anything that doesn’t convert perfectly, you can always screenshot and upload specific slides directly into your scene as images.
Step 5
When you're ready, preview and generate your video.
Your finished video will appear in the "Generated videos" section of your home page.
