In this quick article, I’ll explain how you can use our brand new Document-to-Video feature to create high-quality videos using your existing documents, in seconds.

What is Document-to-Video?

Document-to-Video is a way to create high-quality videos, with very little editing required.

Using the feature, you can upload a document, add a few specifications, and select a template. After this, sit back for a moment, and a draft will be generated.

The draft will contain a voiceover script, based on the document and prompts you provided. It will also be populated with text and media related to your content. It will also automatically have all animation anchors placed, so all your key messages will be animated on screen at the appropriate points.

How do I use Document-to-video?

Step 1

Select " + New draft" from the home screen, then choose "Document-to-video".

Step 2

Start by uploading a document. We currently support PDF, PPTX, TXT, and DOCX.
If you don't have a document to upload, you can also just write down your prompt.

Specify video details, tone and audience.

We recommend giving a detailed prompt when specifying the video details, as this can dramatically impact the quality of the video.

For instance, if you use a PPTX that you used for a monthly update for your team, you should specify the key things you want the video to talk about from that monthly update.

Once you are done, hit "Next".

Step 3

Select a theme. Initially, we have eight templates you can use with Document-to-Video. We will continue to add more over the next few months. Once you’ve selected a template, hit "Next".

Step 4

Hang tight for a moment. Your draft is being generated.
This normally takes between 30-60 seconds.

Step 5

Start editing! You should now have a premade draft, with a voiceover, new text and media items, and pre-placed animation markers in the script.

Give it a preview, make any changes you need, and generate your video!

How will this feature be improved in the future?

  • We will be adding brand kit support for our enterprise customers

  • We want to give creators the ability to start with just a prompt, instead of a document. We also want to allow users to start from a website link.

  • We want to make document-to-video work well with other Colossyan features like interactive video, conversation mode, hand gestures, and more.

  • We want to allow creators to select any of the 50+ templates we currently have in Colossyan.

  • We have a few other plans which we'll share in the future β€” but if you have any ideas about how the feature could be improved, please let us know. :)

Happy creating!

We hope the Document-to-video feature will help you become even more productive

with Colossyan.

Best,

The Colossyan Team
