Use video analytics to gain insights into your video’s performance.

Video analytics

Video analytics can help you gain insights into your video’s performance, giving you a clearer understanding of how your audience engages with your content. These insights allow you to measure engagement, track performance, and improve your videos based on real data.

With video analytics, you can track:

πŸ‘€ Views: See who watched your video.

⏱️ Engagement: Average time spent engaging with the video.

πŸ’‘ Comprehension: Review scores for multiple-choice quizzes.

πŸ“ Important: Video analytics only apply to videos viewed via shared links or embeds β€” not exported MP4 files.

If you need video analytics for exported videos, we recommend using SCORM export instead. More about SCORM here.

How do video analytics work?

  • Video analytics are only available on Enterprise plans.

  • Analytics are automatically enabled. Any Admin or Owner can disable this from the settings menu.

If you want to opt out, select the β€˜Workspace details’ tab, and toggle the β€˜Collect video analytics’ tab off.

  • Viewer names will only show up if your viewer created a Colossyan account and added their name.

All the views from embedded videos and non-Colossyan users will be anonymous.

You will be able to see a viewer's name if they have a Colossyan account, and have set their name under the β€˜My account’ tab of the settings menu

All Colossyan plans support unlimited viewers β€” so don't hesitate to invite your learners as "Viewers" if you want to track their engagement with your videos.

  • If a viewer has a Colossyan account, but hasn’t set their name, you will see β€˜Name unavailable’. If they update their name, this will be updated automatically.

  • If a viewer doesn’t have a Colossyan account, they will be shown as anonymous.

  • If your video is embedded on a page, the views from that page will be shown as anonymous.

How can I invite a viewer to my workspace?

If you want to see the names of your viewers instead of getting anonymous views, you can invite them as "Viewers" into your workspace. To do so, go into your settings, and add your viewers' emails.

πŸ‘₯ You can have an unlimited amount of viewers in your workspace.
You won't be charged for any viewer members. Viewers will be able to watch videos and leave comments, but won't be able to edit or create new videos.

You can also invite viewers while using the Colossyan editor β€” use the "Share" button in the top right menu of the editor, and add your viewers' emails there.

How are average scores calculated?

Average scores are only calculated for videos that include multiple-choice quizzes.

If the viewer answers all the questions correctly, their score will be 100%. For each incorrect answer, the score will be reduced accordingly.

For example:

  • 5/5 correct answers = 100%

  • 4/5 correct answers = 80%

  • 3/5 correct answers = 60%

  • 2/5 correct answers = 40%

  • 1/5 correct answers = 20%

  • 0/5 correct answers = 0%

Your videos' average scores will combine the quiz scores from all of your viewers.

We hope this update will give you a better understanding of your audience, and help you create videos that truly resonate with them.
